Biography
Prof. Dr. Aleksandr Artemev is an orthopedic and trauma surgeon and a Doctor of Medical Sciences. His main areas of practice are aesthetic orthopedics — correction of leg curvature (knock knees and bow legs) and leg lengthening to increase height — and corrective osteotomies for osteoarthritis in older patients, which can be combined with arthroscopy and performed on both legs at the same time.
He treats congenital and acquired skeletal disorders, such as limb deformities and leg length discrepancy, as well as severe limb fractures and their complications — bone defects, nonunions (pseudarthroses), post-traumatic osteomyelitis and severe ankle fractures (pilon fractures). He also treats joint injuries and works with minimally invasive surgical techniques — the Ilizarov method and arthroscopy.
