Doc. dr Vuk Aleksić
About the Doctor
Vuk Aleksić was born in Belgrade, where he completed elementary school and the Fifth Belgrade Gymnasium. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade within the regular study period with a grade point average of 9.70. He received the “Dr. Živojin Sudarov” award for outstanding academic achievement, as well as the Republic Scholarship and the “Dragan Marković” Scholarship for successful students. After graduation, he began working at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Clinical Hospital Center Zemun, where he continues to practice to this day. He completed his specialization in neurosurgery with distinction, followed by a subspecialization in oncology, also with distinction – both at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade. He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Comparative Analysis of the Ligamentum Flavum in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation and Patients with Lumbar Spinal Canal Stenosis” at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.
In 2024, he was appointed as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of East Sarajevo, and since 2023 he has also been teaching at the Medical Department of the Academy of Technical and Vocational Studies in Belgrade. Lecturer Dr. Vuk Aleksić is the author and co-author of 160 scientific papers and 12 book chapters, as well as the lead author and editor of 3 books. He serves as a reviewer for 12 international medical journals and is Editor-in-Chief of the professional journal Taurunum Medical Journal. He has delivered lectures at around 45 congresses and symposia.
In his daily practice, Lecturer Aleksić is active in all fields of neurosurgery, with particular interest in oncological pathology as well as spinal and peripheral nerve pathology. He completed additional training in Greece in minimally invasive, fully endoscopic spinal surgery. Each year, he performs over 300 complex operations. In addition to his work at the Clinical Hospital Center Zemun, he also contributes to the development of neurosurgery at the University Hospital Foča. He also has extensive experience in private practice.
Lecturer Aleksić is a member of the Serbian Society of Neurosurgery, the Serbian Spine Society, the Serbian Society of Neuro-Oncology, the Association of Surgeons of the Republic of Srpska, the Bioethical Society of Serbia, the Serbian Medical Chamber, and the Knowledge Committee of Serbia, where he serves as Chairman of the Section for Medical Sciences. He is fluent in English, physically active, married, and a father of two children.
